“Still Loading” Series: Innovative “From Start to Finish”

October 25, 2023 16:24 ET

Dear friends,

Our incredible investigative series on internet disparities, “Still Loading,” continues cleaning up on the awards circuit, this week garnering a win for Excellence in Innovation from the folks at Scripps Howard.

“The Markup story was an innovative project from start to finish,” the announcement said. “The final product illuminated the effects of systemic racism and ultimately will have a wide-ranging impact.”

Impact is the name of the game, and this series is indeed a force: helping folks shop around for better internet prices, guiding high school students to investigate their own digital divide, being cited by the FCC in their efforts against digital discrimination, and helping communities take matters into their own hands.

While the newsroom (including our talented new hires!) stays busy innovating and investigating, we’re jumping into important, thorny conversations about what’s coming next—last week, Nabiha shared the stage at Harvard with Martha Minow and Nancy Gibbs, where they dug in on the “Future of the Internet”. We’re in great company when it comes to building a digital world that serves the public good—thanks for your support in making it all happen.

With deepest gratitude,

Sisi & Nabiha
