Jill Jaroff

Jill Jaroff was The Markup’s first copy editor and producer. She left in August 2023.

Before The Markup, she had a long stint in the copy department at Sports Illustrated, as well as a diverse freelance career that ranged from editing novels with a musical theme to encyclopedias of the 20th century to business and sports nonfiction.

Jill also has a J.D. from Fordham Law School and worked for several years as a criminal defense attorney for The Legal Aid Society in New York City.
